Poznati Irski low-budget prijevoznik u ovom će tjednu pokrenuti linije iz Irske i Velike Britanije prema četiri hrvatske zračne luke.

Kako smo ranije najavljivali, od početka srpnja Ryanair će ponovno letjeti prema Hrvatskoj. Letovi prema Zadru su već krenuli (jučer iz Stuttgarta, danas iz Beča), dok će ostalih 8 linija iz Zadra krenuti sa prometovanjem tijekom ovog tjedna.

Od srijede, 01. srpnja, Ryanair će ponovno prometovati na liniji Dublin - Dubrovnik - Dublin, letovi su najavljeni do kraja listopada i odvijati će se dva puta tjedno, srijedom i nedjeljom. Podsjećamo, prije izbijanja pandemije kompanija je planirala 4 tjedna leta na ovoj liniji.

Od četvrtka, 02. srpnja, kompanija će uspostaviti prometovanje na liniji London - Pula - London (Zračna luka Stansted). Letovi su na ovoj liniji također najavljeni do kraja listopada, dva puta tjedno, četvrtkom i nedjeljom. U prijašnjim ljetnim sezonama Ryanair je na ovoj liniji prometovao i do 5 puta tjedno.

Od subote, 04. srpnja, uvodi se linija Dublin - Split - Dublin koja bi trebala prometovati sve do 24. listopada odnosno kraja ljetnog reda letenja. Iako je prošle godine Ryanair na ovoj liniji letio značajno više tjednih letova, zbog krize i smanjene potražnje trenutno su najavljena dva leta tjedno, svakog utorka i subote.

U drugom tjednu srpnja, od ponedjeljka, 06.07., Ryanair će ponovno prometovati i na liniji London - Rijeka - London (Zračna luka Stansted). Kroz cijeli srpanj najavljen je tek jedan let tjedno, svakog ponedjeljka, dok se povećanje na dva tjedna leta očekuje od početka kolovoza (dodatni let petkom). Ova će linija prometovati nešto kraće u odnosu na ostale, do kraja rujna.

Ryanair je ranije ukinuo liniju iz Londona prema Osijeku pa će i ovog ljeta prometovati prema četiri hrvatske zračne luke. Linija iz Londona prema Zadru je također ukinuta u ovogodišnjem ljetnom redu letenja.

Što se tiče AerLingusa koji inače iz Dublina leti prema Puli, Splitu i Dubrovniku, sve su linije (izuzev one za Split) kroz srpanj označene kao rasprodane i trenutno nije moguće kupiti kartu. Iz kompanije nam je potvrđeno kako prate situaciju te će reagirati uvođenjem linija čim se za to steknu uvjeti.

Beautiful Barcelona is home to some great beaches where sun worshipers can top up their tan, play volleyball and cool off in the sea on a hot summer day. Unlike most other European city break destinations Barcelona has a selection of beaches literally on its doorstep.

In our opinion the fact that there are beaches in the city gives Barcelona a totally different vibe than somewhere like Madrid, for example.

It’s hard to put a finger on it, but in general, the atmosphere feels much more laid back and we think that’s down to knowing you’re only ever a short distance away from a beach.

Beaches just seem to wash away stress.

The beaches in Barcelona have that effect. You’ll find everyone hanging out with friends and enjoying the wonderful life this city provides.

When it comes to the best beaches in Barcelona there are five main contenders:
Barceloneta
Nova Icaria
Mar Bella
Somorrostro
Castelldefels

Each beach is great for different reasons so keep reading for our explanation as to why exactly each made the cut.

So, without further ado, let us get you guys on the best beaches in Barcelona!

Five of the Best Beaches in Barcelona

Barceloneta

We might as well start with what most tourists who visit the city might consider to be one of the best beaches in Barcelona.

Often referred to simply as ‘Barcelona beach’, it’s the one most people come across first since it is found in the popular neighborhood of, you guessed it, Barceloneta.

There are a number of volleyball nets set up for people to use freely, which is a really nice feature of this beach. Just be prepared to either wait your turn or join in on a game with other people since it’s one of the more popular beaches in Barcelona.

It’s easily walkable from anywhere in the city centre and is well connected with its own metro station. You’ll need to catch the yellow line (L4) and get off at Barceloneta if you are traveling by metro. From the station, it takes about 5-10 minutes to walk to the beach.

Nova Icaria

Platja de la Nova Icaria is about a 15-minute walk north of Barceloneta beach and, for us, is one of the best beaches in Barcelona.

Nova Icaria beach is a favorite among locals. You’ll be able to get away from the crowds of tourists at Barceloneta beach and you never know who you will bump into there. One time, we were sitting with friends and none other than Ronaldinho (a Barcelona footballing legend) showed up to play a Brazilian version of volleyball where you use your feet instead of hands to hit the ball.

Needless to say, it attracted quite a crowd.

To get to Nova Icaria you can walk from the center or take a metro to the Ciutadella – Vila Olímpica station (L4 yellow line).

Mar Bella

The Mar Bella beach is just two beaches down from Nova Icaria but is very different for two main reasons.

The first thing that sets this beach apart from the rest is something that is in very short supply in Barcelona, free parking. There is a huge area between the main road and the beach where you can park your car for free all day, every day. A quick side note, it’s also the best place to park if you drive into the city and don’t want to pay for parking. Simply park next to Mar Bella beach and hop on the metro to get back into the center.

The second thing is the fact that Mar Bella beach is a clothing-optional beach. That doesn’t mean however that it’s mandatory to strip off. The beach is actually very family friendly with children’s play areas and great chiringuitos. While the majority of people will be covered up, don’t be surprised if you see a few people strutting their stuff in their birthday suits.

To get to Mar Bella beach you can take advantage of the free parking by driving if you have a car. Alternatively, take the metro (L4 yellow line) to the Poblenou metro station and from there it’s about 10-minutes walking distance away.

Somorrostro

At one point Somorrostro and Barceloneta beaches were considered to be just one beach. That changed when the northern end of the beach was renamed to Somorrostro after an old shanty town that used to be in the area. Spain’s most famous flamenco dancer, Carmen Amaya, was born there which brought about the name change in her honor.

While the beach itself is beautiful, like most of the beaches in Barcelona, it made this list for another reason.

People who want to do more than just lay around have the chance to hit an open-air gym at the southern end of Somorrostro. It’s totally free and there is a huge range of equipment to use.

As with most of the beaches near Barcelona centre, it’s pretty easy to get to. You can either walk or take the metro (L4 yellow line) to the Barceloneta or Ciutadella – Vila Olímpica stations, they’re both more or less equidistant from the beach.

Castelldefels

The last beach on this list is a bit of a bonus one as it’s not in the city itself. In comparison to the beaches near Barcelona centre that we’ve talked about, it’s absolutely huge. It’s also one of the most beautiful beaches near Barcelona.

The beach stretches along the coast for more than 5kms and is roughly 100 meters wide. The town is small with most buildings being only a few stories high which gives it a distinct ‘small town’ feel.

A complete contrast to the hustle and bustle of Barcelona.

Castelldefels is about 20kms from Barcelona but is really easy to reach. There are a few different options but the easiest way is to take the R2 train from Sants Estació direct to Platja de Castelldefels. The journey takes about 30 minutes.

If you do take the train you need to get off at the Platja de Castelldefels stop, not the Castelldefels stop. If you get off at the wrong stop you’ll then have to take a bus to get to the beach.

Another great thing about getting to Castelldefels via the R2 train is that you can use the T-10 ticket which means the journey will only cost €1. For anyone who doesn’t know, the T-10 ticket is a ticket that costs a little over €10 and gives you 10 rides on most of the city’s public transportation. It’s the most cost-effective way of using the metro, city buses and some other regional trains.

If you’re looking for great beaches near Barcelona that are awesome day trip locations, then Castelldefels is the place.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that Greece is ready to welcome tourists this summer with priority to health
safety.

His comments were made during a visit to Santorini, where he was accompanied by Culture & Sports Minister Lina Mendoni.

Mendoni gave Mitsotakis a tour of the Akrotiri archeological site, one of the most important archaeological sites on the island. The findings show Akrotiri was one of the most important ancient settlements in the Aegean Sea during the prehistoric period, later becoming a key trade port during the Bronze Age.

“We will open all museums on June 15,” said the Prime Minister, “and we will be ready to welcome visitors and tourists who come to Santorini not only for its stunning scenery and famous sunsets, but also for its unique archeological treasures.”

He noted that all infrastructures are set up so as to ensure that the correct social distancing can be observed everywhere, according to health experts’ instructions, “so that our tourists feel safe,” and underlined that “we want to protect their own health as well as the health of workers here.”

Mendoni stressed that all the archeological sites and museums in the country operate on the basis of ‘health safety above all’, which is one of Greece’s central maxims during this summer’s tourism campaign.

Prior to visiting Akrotiri, Mitsotakis was welcomed by Health Minister Vasilis Kikilias to Santorini’s Thera General Hospital, where he was briefed on the hospital’s readiness to deal with any potential coronavirus cases and also its preparedness to carry out diagnostic tests.

At Thera general hospital the Greek PM also discussed the government’s efforts to remove any legal hurdles that prevent the uninterrupted air transfer of any type of patients from Santorini to off-island health facilities.

To this effect and beyond it, Mitsotakis said that “we have a critical summer ahead of us and our intention is to welcome visitors without making any discounts on safety and security, for both the local population and the workers in the National Health System.”

Special medical housing units have been placed in the surrounding grounds at Thera General Hospital, while on Friday a Covid-19 molecular diagnosis expert was installed at the hospital so that sending samples to the Hellenic Pasteur Institute (HPI) in Athens may not be required.

“When the summer tourist season comes full circle,” said Mitsotakis, “we will be able to say that we did not just manage the first wave of the pandemic in an exemplary way, but that we also set the bar very high on how we can reopen tourism safely – above all else,” he exclaimed.

When asked if opening the country to visitors might jeopardise the government’s efforts to contain the coronavirus pandemic, Mitsotakis said that “there is no risk-free approach…we are doing the best we can” and emphasised that the economy will operate under “very robust guidelines” enforcing social distancing and other measures, such as mandatory wearing of masks in transport as well as by all catering personnel.

“I believe the worst (of the pandemic) is over and I don’t think a full lockdown will be necessary…in case of a localised outbreak, we have the medical and civil protection infrastructure in place to tackle it safely and efficiently,” Mitsotakis said.

Greece has so far had 3,112 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 183 fatalities.

Greece’s borders will be “open” from June 15th, with flights permitted to land in Athens and Thessaloniki.

The countries are: Albania, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malta, Montenegro, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Switzerland, and Finland.

The day finally arrived for many eager travellers.

Greece reopened Athens International Airport and Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” to more international flights, hoping to kick-start its vital tourism sector after three months in lockdown.

In Thessaloniki, the first flight from abroad landed at 13:30 from Munich, Germany, with 160 on board.

The Aegean Airlines flight was welcomed with a water arch salute, symbolically, as this usually the case during the reception of a “virgin” flight, as reported by Emea.

Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias and other dignitaries of the city, welcomed the first passengers.

According to Hardalias, all passengers arriving by June 30 will undergo a coronavirus test and then go to their destination.

Regarding the designated ‘Covid-19 hotel’, where travellers who test positive will be quarantined for 14 days, Hardalias said that it has not been designated yet in Thessaloniki. HE noted that this is the responsibility of the Tourism Ministry.

Michael Eleftheriadis, one passenger on board the flight told AMNA “everything happened very quickly, they took a saliva sample for examination and let us go to our destination.” Another passenger, Elias Tsingas added that “we were checked, we gave our full details and they told us that they would notify us when the results came out.”

“Greece is opening its gates to tourism today. Everything is ready, as the prime minister stressed from Santorini at the weekend, in order to receive visitors with safety,” government spokesman Stelios Petsas stated on Monday during a press briefing.

“We want Greece to be the safest tourist destination in Europe. We – government, businessmen and employees – are all moving based on this”, he added.

Petsas also stressed: “We all know that this summer will be different from the previous ones but we want the experience of contact with Greek culture to be as authentic as possible. As of today, we welcome tourists from airports in the list of the European Aviation Safety Agency with a low epidemiological burden.”

He added that random tests will be carried out at the airports of Athens and Thessaloniki by June 30. “Those who are tested will have to wait for the result – that is, for one day – in a hotel of their choice. In case someone is tested positive, he will stay in quarantine for 14 days.”
